The architectural ensemble comprising a castle with a chapel, a terrace adorned with artistic sculptures, a two-tier staircase with a grotto and pond, an extensive garden, park, and other specific constructions.
Originally used as a hunting lodge, the castle was built in 1669 by Count Jan Špork. It underwent a comprehensive renovation in the Art Nouveau/Neo-Baroque style between 1909 and 1911, under the supervision of architect Leopold Bauer.
Our design for the client, based in Taiwan, transforms the castle into a summer residence. The task was to create an interior across three levels.
The first level pertains to the side wing on the second floor, featuring the master bedroom and a luxurious bathroom. The interior is adorned with the finest materials – onyx, marble, gilded fixtures, luxury furniture styled in the spirit of the original design of the castle, and lighting from Czech suppliers.
The second level includes two rooms with private bathrooms for children and important guests. The luxurious design is maintained with materials such as various plasters, a modest amount of marble, and designer furniture.
The third level focuses on guest rooms on the third floor. Each room is styled in one color. In the private bathrooms of the rooms, mosaic tiles have been used, complemented by simple furniture with stylized upholstery and soft, tasteful lighting.
The castle’s spaces offer vast opportunities for architectural design. The central part features an elegant entrance and a main hall, which can serve as an impressive venue for social events. The side wings provide rooms for various purposes, such as salons, libraries, and offices. The castle chapel, added during the renovation, serves as a unique space for religious ceremonies and cultural events. All interiors can be furnished with respect to historical elements while being adapted to modern needs and tastes.
The renovation of the castle’s interior creates a harmonious and functional space for contemporary living and cultural events. The side wings of the castle are designed to reflect the specific purposes of each room. From noble salons to intimate offices, each space reflects the distinctive atmosphere of the era.
As part of our architectural design, historical context is one of the key factors. The overall design combines architectural exclusivity with functionality. We decided to furnish the interior strictly in the context and respect for historical elements, such as upholstery, furniture details, expensive materials, luxury lighting, and so on. The overall interior concept of the castle creates an environment that honors history while being adapted to the needs of modern life. This ensures a unique, period-appropriate space for private use, as well as for cultural events and social occasions. Modern and comfortable elements enhance the comfort and practicality of the environment.
