The architectural concept for the Troja City Escape project is grounded in the key idea of maximizing respect for the existing character of the landscape, with minimal intervention in the terrain.
This design approach reflects our commitment to preserving the context of the allotment garden colony while also considering the project’s economic aspects. It is reflected not only in the delicate architecture of the buildings but also in the preservation and enhancement of the area’s existing vegetation diversity.
Thanks to careful economic planning and thoughtful consideration, we were able to limit the number of buildings to just 35 cabins. This decision enables us to maintain the natural character of the surrounding environment and prevent overbuilding, which could disrupt the harmony of the landscape. The cabins are compact, each with generous gardens that contribute to the preservation and expansion of the local flora, ensuring that natural biocorridors are not disturbed. The placement of smaller buildings also reduces the need for heavy machinery and large amounts of concrete, thus minimizing the impact on the environment. This is particularly important for local protected bird species and other wildlife.
We also focused on ensuring privacy and intimacy for the future cabin owners. Our goal is for the owners to feel comfortable and undisturbed in these spaces, which would not be possible with a larger number of plots. In this way, we achieved a balance between respecting nature, historical context, and the needs of future residents.
The design also includes a public area, where a newly created park, playground, bike paths, educational trails, and open green spaces offer an oasis of peace and safety in a location that was once part of a problematic garden colony. Unfortunately, more than 25% of the small houses in the area are dilapidated, burned, and used primarily as shelters for homeless people, drug users, and other negative phenomena. Our project helps clean up, revitalize, and transform one of the more neglected parts of Prague 7, an area with great potential.
This project aims to bring a fresh, ecological, and harmonious solution that enhances both the quality of life for future residents and the environment, while contributing to the revitalization of the area.
