The assignment also included the design of basic exterior elements, such as an outdoor covered terrace, a natural pond, and the position of a gazebo and greenhouse. The land is located in the south of Kunratice in a quiet residential area, in close proximity to the attractive Castle Park.
The design of the family house respects the surrounding buildings and is oriented towards the garden, which provides privacy for relaxation and leisure activities without interference from the street or neighboring lands. The motif of wooden slats is characteristic already upon entering the plot and is a unifying visual element within the entrance to the house, the design of the staircase in the interior, and continues to accompany us within the covered pergola adjacent to the house.
The ground floor is further divided into private, technical spaces and a social area. The first floor contains the parents’ master bedroom and two children’s bedrooms. The bedrooms and children’s bedrooms are oriented towards the garden, which provides pleasant views and privacy. The bedroom leads to a spacious terrace, which then turns into a green roof. On the contrary, the bathrooms, dressing rooms and laundry room are oriented towards the street.
The stair steps, cladding and railings are made of oak wood, which creates a pleasant atmosphere in the interior. Oak wood is also repeated on the floors in the bedroom and children’s rooms on the first floor and in the living room on the ground floor.
The material concept of the exterior part consists of horizontal slabs of exposed concrete, which become cornices and help to divide the main mass of the house with smooth plaster. The rear of the ground floor, where the living room and kitchen are located, is distinguished by a textured plaster with strong vertical line details. This differentiation gradually directs the house towards the garden, where the rear of the house opens up to a view of a natural pond. A covered pergola, connected to the entire garden, is accessible from the living room and provides space for a summer kitchen.
