We designed an apartment building with accommodation and parking on a plot located on the outskirts of the village Svoboda nad Úpou. Situated in a tranquil area of the village, the plot is surrounded by a mix of detached family houses, residential buildings, and a Care House. The eastern side of the plot is easily accessible by road, while the western boundary transitions into a wooded slope, providing natural privacy and enhancing the building’s connection to the surrounding landscape.
The design of the building is characterized by two main volumes: two rectangular-shaped masses with gable roofs connected by a narrow section with a lightweight envelope. This approach gives the building a less imposing appearance, allowing it to blend more harmoniously with the surrounding environment.
The building is a three-story timber structure, featuring a partially habitable attic. Each floor houses six individual apartments, carefully designed to maximize both space and functionality. The building ensures a seamless transition from the interior to the outdoors, enhancing the living experience for all residents.
Each apartment is designed with practicality and comfort in mind. Every unit includes:
Balconies: Accessible from both the living room and bedroom.
Private Gardens: Ground floor apartments have their own front gardens, providing direct access through the balcony.
Attic Extensions: Apartments on the third floor are expanded with an attic extension and an additional terrace.
The building is thoughtfully laid out to prioritize the privacy of residents while ensuring the comfort of modern living. Each apartment benefits from its own dedicated parking space on the eastern side of the plot.
The facades of the building combine horizontal and vertical wooden cladding, highlighted by accentuated cornices on each floor. The roof is crafted from metal with a subtle wavy profile in a light color, blending contemporary materials with the natural surroundings.
